Terms and Conditions

Last updated: June 2026

These Terms and Conditions govern the sale of products through our online shop. Please read them carefully before placing an order. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.

About us

Our shop is operated by Tempeh Meades Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 12088946), with its registered office at 5 West Croft Lane, Sandford, BS25 5AJ. In these terms we refer to ourselves as "we", "us", or "our", and to you as "you" or "the customer".

You can contact us at hello@tempehmeades.com.

Ordering and eligibility

To place an order you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a legally binding contract. We sell to customers within the United Kingdom only, and we deliver to UK addresses only.

When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy from us. We will send you an acknowledgement confirming we have received your order. This acknowledgement does not mean your order has been accepted. A binding contract is formed only when we dispatch your order. If we are unable to fulfil your order, we will let you know and refund any payment taken.

Our products

Our products are frozen tempeh and related items. We take care to describe our products accurately, but minor variations in appearance may occur because our products are made in small batches from natural ingredients.

Allergen and ingredient information is provided on our product pages and packaging. If you have a food allergy or intolerance, please read this information carefully before ordering, and contact us if you have any questions.

Prices and payment

Prices are shown on our website and are in pounds sterling. We try to ensure all prices are accurate, but if we discover an error in the price of products you have ordered, we will contact you to ask whether you wish to continue at the correct price or cancel.

Payment is taken at the time you place your order and is processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Delivery charges, where they apply, are shown clearly before you complete your order.

Delivery

We deliver within the United Kingdom only, using DPD as our courier. Because our products are frozen, they are packed and dispatched with care to keep them cold in transit.

We aim to dispatch orders Monday to Thursday, with a cut-off time of 9:30am on the day of dispatch for orders to be processed that day. As a small business, we cannot always guarantee these timings and they may vary. We will keep you informed about your order where we can.

It is your responsibility to make sure that someone is available to receive your order, or that any safe place you nominate for delivery is genuinely safe and secure. Because our products are frozen, prompt receipt and storage are important. We are not responsible for any loss, theft, or deterioration that occurs after the parcel has been delivered to your address or left in a safe place at your instruction. For example, we are not liable if a parcel is taken from a doorstep or porch after delivery.

Damaged, lost, or delayed deliveries

If your order arrives damaged, or if it is lost or significantly delayed in transit so that the product is affected, please contact us at hello@tempehmeades.com. We will send out a new order at no extra cost to you. We may ask for a photograph or other reasonable evidence to help us understand what went wrong and to improve our packing and delivery.

This does not apply where loss or deterioration occurs after successful delivery, as set out in the Delivery section above.

Cancellation and your right to change your mind

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, the standard 14-day right to cancel does not apply to goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly. Our frozen tempeh products fall into this category. This means you do not have a right to cancel and return these products once your order has been placed and accepted, simply because you have changed your mind.

This does not affect your legal rights if the products are faulty, not as described, or not of satisfactory quality, as set out below.

Faulty or unsatisfactory products

Your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 are not affected by these terms. Our products must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described. If a product you receive is faulty or not as described, please contact us at hello@tempehmeades.com and we will put things right, which may include a replacement or a refund.

Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the law. Your statutory rights as a consumer remain fully protected.

Subject to the above, we are not liable for losses that were not foreseeable, that were not caused by us, or that arise from your failure to follow storage, handling, or food safety guidance, or to receive and store your order promptly.

Food safety and storage

Our products are frozen and must be stored and handled correctly. Please follow the storage and use instructions provided on the packaging. Once a product has been allowed to defrost as a result of delays in receipt or storage that are within your control, we cannot accept responsibility for its condition.

Events outside our control

We are not responsible for any failure or delay in performing our obligations where that failure or delay results from events outside our reasonable control, such as severe weather, courier disruption, or supply issues. If such an event occurs, we will contact you and take reasonable steps to minimise any impact.

Your privacy

We process your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, which form part of your agreement with us.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your order is the version published on our website at the time you place it. When we make changes, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
